Grove City Division of Police Installs a Drug Drop Box for Prescription Drug Disposal
The Grove City Division of Police, in partnership with the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI), installed a Rx Drug Drop Box in the lobby of the Grove City Safety Complex, 3360 Park St. The drug drop box resembles a mailbox and is available for anonymous disposal of medicine any time of the day or night.
NADDI launched the program to significantly reduce easy access to prescriptions that are outdated or no longer needed. These drugs unfortunately are the target of theft by people who have access to the medicine cabinets of family and friends. America’s 12- to 17-year-olds have made prescription drugs their number one substance of abuse, and much of the supply is coming from the medicine cabinets of their parents, grandparents and friends. More and more adults recognize the need to remove these substances from the home. This is a way to legally and safely turn them over to law enforcement for eco-friendly destruction.
Needles, inhalers or liquid medication are not permitted in the drug drop box. Please be sure to remove labels with identifying information before disposal and make sure caps are tightly secured.
