Get Together with Neighbors on National Night Out
The 29th Annual National Night Out is set from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7 througout Grove City. This event encourages neighborhoods in the Grove City community to get involved in crime prevention and take control of your neighborhoods.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Last year’s event across the country, involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people participated in National Night Out. Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, cities and towns celebrate National Night Out with a variety of special citywide and neighborhood events such as block parties, cookouts, and visits from local officials and law enforcement.
“We want people to enjoy themselves and have an understanding that the partnership between the community and the Grove City Division of Police is essential to creating a community where crime cannot flourish,” said Chief of Police Steve Robinette.
Every neighborhood in Grove City is encouraged to participate in National Night Out. Invite your neighbors over for a cookout, play games in the yard and get to know each other.
