Grove City Weather Alert System Offers Added Security
The Grove City Division of Police wants to remind you of the telephone-based severe weather warning service for those living or working in Grove City. The Grove City Weather Alert System sends a pre-recorded phone/text message when there are National Weather Service warnings for severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and flash floods in Franklin County.
Individuals must register for this service. Each participant has the option to register up five contacts and each contact can have two associated phone numbers to include parents, siblings or spouses on their account. Messages will only be sent to phone numbers registered for the service.
Register your address and chosen phone number(s) with the Grove City Weather Alert System database. This private database is not published and will never be released. It simply allows you to receive emergency notification information in a timely manner. Follow the easy instructions to register for the Grove City Weather Alert.
“During the threatening weather earlier this month, I received a voice and text message from the Weather Alert System, which let me know to check local media for specifics. It’s one more way to notify someone if they are in a place where they can’t hear the sirens.” said Kelley Davidson, Grove City Police Communications supervisor.
As with any incident or situation, circumstances can change rapidly. It is suggested that after receiving emergency notifications, you continue to monitor local media stations for severe weather updates to ensure your safety. Be prepared; get a battery backup weather radio as an alternate communication source during severe weather.
